Class 3 had very special day on Monday 10 January when a Roman Centurion, Maximus, came to visit FPS. The children became immersed in Ancient Roman life in Britain as part of this term’s History topic.
They discovered why the Roman army was so successful in defeating the Anglo-Saxons, the names of weapons, how the Roman Empire grew and why they invaded and settled in Britain.
I enjoyed being Boudicca and recreating the Battle of Watling Street in the afternoon and learning how the Romans used ‘gladius’ the Roman sword. We now actually know the facts properly as we took part on the battle and the story.

A big thank you to Mrs Holley for organising this wonderful experience and bringing the past alive for Class 3.
